Picnic scene
This illustration was created for the exhibition [píc.nic] and later the book “Zusammen schmeckt alles am besten”. After roughly sketching the idea for the scene in my sketchbook, I worked on it digitally. I then transferred the finished sketch onto watercolor paper and illustrated it with watercolors and colored pencils. Afterwards it went on the scanner to become a digital printing file again.
When inventing the characters, it was important to me to create diverse personalities that represent both the animal world of Peru, Katherine Lopez's home country, and Germany. So we have an alpaca, a mouse, a guinea pig, a raccoon, an Andean rooster, a ladybug and a wild boar. All the animals live peacefully and equally in the same forest as the human girl.
